The service, which starts on Monday 16 January 2006, will run once a day from Monday to Friday in both directions with the potential to carry sixty 20ft containers in each direction. The new service is another turn-up and go, common user service similar to those already run successfully by the freight haulier. GBRf’s service will run to Excel at Doncaster, where partnerships with terminal operators and local road hauliers will ensure a full door-to-door service is provided. The Port of Felixstowe awarded the new slot to GB Railfreight at the beginning of December, much to the delight of GB Railfreight’s Intermodal Business Manager Julie Garn. Julie said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this fabulous new service to this important business hub. We are looking to remove a substantial amount of traffic from the crowded road corridor to Doncaster.” Julie added: “We take our involvement in the intermodal market very seriously and are determined to grow our business substantially.” Source: Press Release
